Illustrating What Is That Noise?
Buzz! Whoosh! Roar! Creak! The world is filled with noises. But where do they all come from?
In this whimsical, rhyming bedtime story, young readers are taken on a sensory adventure to guess what those mysterious sounds could be. From trains bound for Spain to honking cars on their way to Mars, What Is That Noise? stretches the imagination from the everyday to the extraordinary.
Perfect for curious minds who wonder about the world around them, and the ultimate wind-down story—gently transition from the loud, busy sounds of the day to a cosmic, peaceful "good night."
Artist Alejandra Marchand brings What Is That Noise? to life with uniquely wonderful illustrations. Her process involves researching, sketching, outlining in pencil, watercoloring, and adding final touches with a black pen.
"Every time a story comes to me, it's like I'm returning to my childhood. I don't know if it's the best stage of human life, but it's certainly the most magical, and that magic returns to me every time I get to illustrate a story. This is why I love what I do."
