Hugo the Hermit Crab's Journey Back to Sea Reviewed by Amy Raines for Readers' Favorite.

Hugo is crab-napped by a parrot that wants to have him for a snack. In favor of something else to eat, the parrot lets Hugo go. Hugo is now in a strange place that is nowhere near the sea. Worried and alone, Hugo the Hermit crab finds a place to hide from the sun and rest. Knowing he can’t stay where he is, Hugo decides to find his way back to the sea. He meets a frog who helps him find food and gives him some information that might help him on his journey. Will Hugo ever find his way back to the sea to get a new shell, see his friends, and start a family? Find out in Hugo the Hermit Crab’s Journey Back to Sea by Danielle Lynch Nicholson and illustrated by Lauren Zurcher.

Hugo the Hermit Crab’s Journey Back to Sea by Danielle Lynch Nicholson is an adventurous tale about a hermit crab carried far from home who must find his way back before getting hurt or becoming a predator’s meal. The characters are a cast of animals such as a frog, a lizard, starfish, and an iguana. Some are helpful to Hugo, and some may be dangerous. The illustrations are beautiful and keep you entertained throughout the story. I recommend it to children learning to read who enjoy an adventurous story about exotic animals and marine life.
