World Meditation Day

Let's celebrate World Meditation Day with Soma and author Gail Sonnesyn, certified breathwork practitioner and functional breathing coach.

World Meditation Day is observed annually on December 21st and promotes "inner peace, mental well-being, and global harmony through the practice of meditation." According to the United Nations:

There are diverse types of meditation, each offering unique approaches to achieving calm, clarity, and balance. Research underscores its ability to reduce stress, improve focus and emotional balance, alleviating anxiety and depression, and enhance sleep quality. It also contributes to better physical health, including lowering blood pressure and managing pain.

Beyond individual benefits, meditation fosters empathy, collaboration, and a sense of shared purpose, contributing to collective well-being. Celebrated for its universality, meditation is practiced across all regions of the world by people of all ages, backgrounds, and lifestyles.

Gail Sonnesyn founded Indigo Breath and Wellness, Inc. to help others recognize the importance of releasing stress from the physical body in order to maintain good health. She also authored the children's book Soma Finds His Rhythm to teach young readers how to harness the power of breath, movement, and sound.

Soma, a Peruvian emerald tree boa, is feeling down. With the help of his animal friends, he learns about self-regulation and strategies to improve mood and reduce stress. On Soma’s journey, the world turns more vibrant while he reconnects with himself and others.

An interactive and uplifting story about supporting one another through meditation. Come find your rhythm, have fun, and increase your well-being!
