Who Illustrated The Long Road Home
What is a children's book without magical illustrations?
Amy Glatiotis is an artist, mom, and bookworm. She has been drawing, crafting, and sewing for years and more recently found a love for digital illustrating. Amy lives in the stunning Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada, with her wonderful husband Galen, beautiful daughter Mylah, and dachshund George.
She finds inspiration in her family--often brainstorming ideas of things to draw with them over breakfast--and other talented artists in the online art community. "Seeing what they create always makes me want to draw as well," Amy says.
"Be inspired and encouraged by others, but keep being you!! Draw, then draw some more. Don't be afraid to leave a drawing when it's not working and come back to it later with new eyes."
Amy loves to draw whimsical characters, whether it's a little mushroom wearing glasses, an owl cooking up delicious cookies, or Mylah and George in funny scenarios. She often sketches an idea on paper with pencil first, then puts it into Procreate, and draws on her iPad.
In The Long Road Home, written by Rebecca Cooperman-Glucksman, Amy captures the characters wonderfully, with comforting colors and detail. Bailey and Buddy, two beagles, live in a happy home with lots of love and delicious bones to chew. But they quickly realize this is not the case for everyone. So, they embark on a mission to find all the unlucky dogs and bring them back to their warm home.
