Longest Sentence
The longest sentences in literature range from 96 words to over 2,000. The longest sentence in English goes to Jonathon Coe’s The Rotter’s Club, which includes a 13,955-word sentence. It was inspired by Dancing Lessons for the Advanced in Age by Bohumil Hrabal, a Czech language novel written in one long sentence. Another sentence often claimed as the longest sentence is a soliloquy from James Joyce’s Ulysses, which is 4,391 words.
