International Day of Friendship
Celebrate International Day of Friendship with Friends Are Forever in The Rainbow Brigade children' book series by Dr. Sheila Cooperman.
The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.
The resolution places emphasis on involving young people, as future leaders, in community activities that include different cultures and promote international understanding and respect for diversity. -- United Nations
In Friends Are Forever, Nani’s very best friend is moving away. She is sad and afraid they won’t be friends anymore. When Nubby-Bean and the Rainbow Brigade appear at Nani’s door, they show her that the world is filled with friends, and when someone moves away, it doesn’t mean you lose them. It demonstrates how powerful friendships can be.
