Children's Literacy with Miss Wiggleberry
Carrie Dawn, author of Tales From Wiggleberry, discusses the benefits of reading to children with KUSI-TV on Dr. Seuss's Birthday.
Carrie Dawn was born in New York, graduated from California State University of Northridge with a BA in Liberal Arts, and has been an Early Child Development Educator for over 35 years. Discovering the joy and enthusiasm of preschoolers is her greatest inspiration, and reading stories from Wiggleberry World has been a lifelong dream. She knows that young children love stories, especially when they are read aloud.
Carrie, dressed in her iconic Miss Wiggleberry costume, is traveling to libraries and classrooms throughout San Diego as part of Read Across America. With literacy rates declining in the United States, her mission is to help kids fall in love with books. "It’s more important than ever before to give young children a wide array of engaging books and show them how fun reading can be."
