A Special Reunion with Daniel Tyler
Daniel Tyler reunites with Max and Molly, the siblings who inspired two main characters in his new middle-grade series Dash the Husky.
"During my 15-year residence in Steamboat, there was a family living nearby with two children, Max and Molly, with whom we hiked, fished, had water balloon fights, and did a variety of winter sports. They viewed me as a pseudo grampa, because they had lost both of their real sets of grandparents. They matured, went off the school and now have careers. Max, the younger, lives in Washington state. He works remotely for a company in Boulder that designs apparel; mostly leisure wear. He is still very active in the outdoors: fly fishing, mountain biking, snow boarding. Molly is equally passionate about the outdoors. She majored in psychology and now works in Fort Collins helping kids stay out of trouble. She is an outdoor skater, hikes and backpacks, and is an avid gardener. She also has a companion; Zephyr, an Australian Shepherd. She and Max grew up with Bernese Mountain dogs. They fit the "Dash" story to a tee. And it is wonderful to see that as adults, they are still the same wonderful people I knew when we all lived in Steamboat." –Daniel Tyler
In Dash the Husky: Mountain Adventure, Max and Molly decide to climb a mountain with Dash, their best buddy, before the start of school. Although the climb of Mt. Sargent is tiring, they still have the energy to slide down a large snow field, right on their butts. This is called glissading. You go fast, and you don't always end up where you planned. That's what happens to Max. He is unable to stop and finds himself on a ledge in a deep crevasse. Molly has to find a way to get him out, and Dash seems to present the only hope.
Book two in the series is set to come out later this summer!
