Cycle Psyched With Kevin Field

As race director and head of performance strategy with the Canadian Cycling Association, Kevin Field is known as "The Moneyball of Cycling" because of his ability to analyze data and get the most out of his athletes.

Canadian Cycling Magazine’s story “The Moneyball of Canadian Cycling” by Dan Dakin, September 8, 2019, gives a detailed account of how Field uses data, analytics, and camaraderie to support racers to perform their best at top levels and ultimately be successful. Field was behind the breakthroughs of Sven Tuft, Michael Woods, the Canadian women’s track team and junior road championships medalists.

In Cycle Psyched: Pro Wisdom and the Mental Training to Excel, when Dr. Saul L Miller and Peggy Maass Labiuk discuss the importance of identity and pride in winning, Field is quoted,

“Pro cycling teams can and could do considerably more to respect and value their team players and create a true winning team culture.”

He encouraged riders to embrace their role as a domestique or team player, and to appreciate the commitment, talent, and work ethic, and take pride in it.
